Kaiku BASOA eskoziarra urdina
BASOA means forest in Basque.
It is true that in the Basque Country it rains a lot, but thanks to that we have these beautiful green forests, and we love them. In their name we publish our BASOA edition, inside our Kaiku collection, made with natural fabric 100% merino wool made in Spain. As always, our coats are hand crafted by local artisans in the Basque Country.
MetaKultura special edition
Meta! was the name of the crowdfunding campaign with which we were able to produce these 102 kaikus (34 in each color) with the help of the local government from Gipuzkoa and lots of people that believed in our project before they could even touch it.
Kaiku is the coat traditionally worn by the Basque fishermen or arrantzales. It was made by a tight wool fabric, perfect for the heavy rains and humid wind they have to deal with on the sea.
We have maintained the simplicity of its shape and the main features of the kaiku, such as the big pockets, heart-shaped elbow patch or the shoulder stripes to keep the txapela.
